Born in Assisi in 2003, Francesco Marroni grew up and began his education in Perugia. At the age of thirteen, he began his musical studies at the “F. Morlacchi” Conservatory in Perugia under Alessandro Gagliardi, who guided him through almost his entire academic training.
In 2022 and 2023, he received further tuition from Lorenzo Di Bella at the “Beniamino Gigli” Civic School of Music in Recanati. During the 2023/24 academic year, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin as an Erasmus student under Birgitta Wollenweber. After returning to Italy, he worked briefly with Mauro Nadir Matteucci in preparation for his final examination, graduating with the highest marks, cum laude and an honourable mention.
Since 2025, he has attended the “Tiziano Rossetti” Academy in Lugano, Switzerland, where he studies with Vovka Ashkenazy, son of the legendary Russian pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy. From October 2026, he will continue his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, Germany, undertaking a further two-year Master’s programme under Christian Pohl.
Marroni has participated in numerous masterclasses, including the 2025 Fiestravaganza in Berlin, and has worked with distinguished musicians such as Jacques Rouvier, Angela Hewitt, Christian Pohl, Vovka Ashkenazy, Lucas Blondeel, Shaun Choo, Oscar Martín, Piotr Machnik and Michał Białk.
He has earned significant recognition in national and international competitions. His awards include Absolute First Prize at the “Perusia Harmonica” and “Perle Sonore” piano competitions; First Prize at the “Città di Bucchianico”, “Andrea Baldi” in Bologna, “Città di Treviso – Giovani Musicisti”, Piove di Sacco and Ariano International Online piano competitions; and First Prize at the Swiss “Tiziano Rossetti” Music Competition.
In chamber music, he won First Prize with pianist Raul Maritean at the “Beethoveniamo” Competition in Latina and Absolute First Prize with violinist Martina Giulianelli at the “Milano City” Competition. He also received Second Prize in four editions of the “Strumenti e Musica” International Piano Competition in Spoleto, Third Prize at the “Città di Minerbio” Piano Competition and was a finalist at the “Maria Giubilei” Competition.
A major highlight of his concert career was his 2024 appearance in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, as soloist with the city’s symphony orchestra. He has performed as both a soloist and chamber musician in Milan, Perugia, Latina, Sabaudia, Pieve Santo Stefano, Ceglie Messapica, Sansepolcro, Panicale and other Italian cities, and has also appeared as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Perugia Conservatory.
Since 2023, his international concert activity has included performances in Berlin, Beeskow and Karlovy Vary.
